We started in 2016 with a borrowed drum kit, a four-track recorder and a garage two streets from the water. The first Cadencebay songs were written for nobody — salt-air folk with drums played far too loud.

Word travelled the way it does in harbor towns: a bar gig became a festival slot, a festival slot became a support tour, and the support tour became our first headline run. Through it all we kept recording at home, pressing our own vinyl and printing our own posters.

What we believe

Play every room like it is the biggest room. Print things worth keeping. Price merch fairly, ship it fast, and answer every message from a fan. The market exists so the music never has to compromise.
